We are 3/4 of the way through the 2019 karting season and its time to setup a website and social media accounts, we have also setup a crowd funding page to try and get some sponsorship. Wes have been improving all year, we changed from a Zip Chassis to a Project one after a few rounds, this caused us a few bad races while we got used to the new setup, now he is well away and improving. Photos for the website have been supplied by “Photography by Selborne“ The website can be found at: https://www.wescoombsracing.com Social Media accounts: Facebook:

Garden Shredder

Awesome Garden Shredder

Gardening time and the hedges need a cut, we also have some very large trees that need a serious hair cut. One of our problems is that we have to take the waste to the public recycling center which is 6 miles away. If we had bought a house with land as we originally wanted then we could have put the garden waste in a heap to break down A few weeks ago I started to investigate shredders, at our last house i borrowed one from a friend but it got blocked up quickly, surly things must have improved. Compost Thermometer

Compost Thermometer

This year our compost has not been working very well, in fact when i dug it over i found nothing but the material that I put in there. We have 4 large compost bins, each one about 3ft square. To get great compost ti needs to get up to the right temperature so that the bacteria will break down the material. I bought a compost thermometer to see if the heaps were getting hot enough and found that they were not. after a lot of hard work: Digging them out, Layering fresh green grass cuttings in with the older dry

18th Birthday Party

Off for the weekend to Tring in Hertfordshire for a Family 18th Birthday Party. All meeting up and then a meal at the Kings Arms in the center of the town. Good food, beer and an area at the end of the function room for the kids to all play. We drove up to Tring in the morning and then stayed with some other relatives in Chippenham on the Saturday night to break the journey on the way home.

A New Kitten

Sadly we lost one of our older cats, she was 14 years old and since a kitten she had a heart murmur, in then end she had saddle thrombosis and had to be put to sleep. A sad day. We decided to get another kitten, we still have a 14 year old and 12 year old cat so it will be fun to have a little one again. After looking around and talking to our vet we heard that the Cats Protection had a few kittens locally to us, i always wanted a Silver Tabby and they had a male

Wes Coombs Racing

During 2018 our Son started his Karting Carrier when we bought a kart and raced at Mansell Kart Racing Club. He got his MSA licence and then did enough races to obtain a full class B licence, that allowed him to start the 2019 season being placed on the starting grid rather than at the back. We started a website site, facebook page and instagram account to show what he can do and for people to follow his progress.

Re-Mortgage Time

After nearly 3 years of living in Cornwall it was time to re-mortgage as the fixed term was coming to an end. we used FX Mortgages when we moved and they got in touch a few weeks ago to see if they could help out again, they sent us a list of a few options and we sent our current financial details. All went very smoothly and we now have a great fixed deal for a few more years. WE can highly recommend FX-Mortgages for there service and helpfulness during what can be a very stressful time. Eggs and Chilli ready to go in the cupboard

Chilli Picked Eggs

Who does not like picked eggs? Well why not give them a kick. Locally we can get free range eggs from the roadside, many of which are double yoakers. Bring a pan of water to the boil, place in the eggs carefully, after 10 mins pour out the water and let the eggs cool. Chop the chili into slices and place into the jar, peel the eggs and place into the jar, cover with vinegar, leave for several weeks in a dark cool cupboard. I previous years we have made pickled eggs with beetroot, some with mustard and of course
